With the plethora of vegan establishments in New York City (and beyond) one would expect the East End to have followed suit.
But, as we continue our wait for the announcement of a fully vegan dining experience in the Hamptons, there are plenty of local restaurants that offer several delicious vegan menu items. And more are joining in the movement all the time. Four Oaks is a small café right near the village in Southampton at 42 Jagger Lane. With a heavy focus on vegan food, they offer both lunch and breakfast, smoothies, fresh juices, acai bowls, specialty coffee drinks, and more!
Some of the vegan delights that can be found in their sandwiches, wraps, and bowls are tempeh, tofu, vegan “chicken”, and vegan “chorizo.” At Four Oaks, all their ingredients are locally sourced and organic, making them the perfect pit stop for veggie lovers!
Located at 7 Main Street in Sag Harbor, Provisions Natural Foods is both a café and healthy supermarket. They have an abundance of vegan choices on their menu whether it be soups, salads, wraps, quesadillas, sandwiches, stir-fry, juices and smoothies, and beyond!
Their scrambled tofu wrap, tempeh Reuben, and black bean chili are just a few of the enjoyable options that can be found on the menu at Provisions. Bonus, you can grab a few groceries from produce to skincare to supplements and more while you wait for your café order.
Naturally Good Foods & Café
Naturally Good Foods & Café is a health food store with a café inside at 779 Montauk Highway in Montauk, and they are open year-round. They have tons of vegan options on their menu, as well as an expanded grocery store.
They are an especially great place to visit in the summer where you can enjoy their outdoor garden seating as you enjoy a vegan breakfast or lunch dish, smoothie or juice, specialty coffee drink, or vegan baked good.
Joni’s Kitchen, located at 28 South Etna Avenue in Montauk, has been a local favorite since opening in 2000. There is lots for the plant-based crowd to choose from on the menu like scrambled tofu breakfast dishes, stirfry and salads, juice and smoothies, a full coffee bar, and of course sweet treats.
Stop by Joni’s for a vegan breakfast or lunch before heading to the beach in this surf town—it’s even walking distance to the ocean!
Matsulin is an Asian fusion restaurant located at 131 West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. They have an array of pan-Asian fare on their menu to choose from, many of which can be made vegan, as well as a special vegan menu. They offer vegan chicken and steak, tofu, veggie sushi, and so much more.
Their tofu satay appetizer with spicy peanut sauce is highly recommended—even the non-vegans will be declaring this one a favorite!
Saaz is an authentic Indian restaurant located at 1746 County Road 39 in Southampton. They have a menu full of vegan options whether it be soups, curries, dosa, appetizers, and more. Not only is the food deliciously spiced and made fresh, but the ambiance and authenticity at Saaz is unmatched to any other restaurant you could find in the Hamptons.
A couple favorite vegan menu items are the vegetable samosa, korma curry which can be made vegan with coconut cream, and any vegan dosa on the menu, all served with the tastiest coconut chutney!
Hampton Chutney Co.
Another authentic Indian restaurant on the East End, Hampton Chutney is on 107 Newtown Lane in East Hampton. With several vegan options on the menu, they offer different types of dosa and uttapams, a la carte items, a thali platter special.
Plus, their oat chai that can be ordered hot or iced is a must-try.
Tony’s Fusion restaurants can be found in a few towns on the East End whether they be hibachi, dine-in, or takeout. Tony’s Asian Fusion in East Quogue, Tony’s Fusion West in Westhampton, Tony’s Fusion North in Laurel, Tony’s Express in Hampton Bays, and Tony’s Sushi & Steakhouse in East Moriches all have slightly different menus, but all offer delicious pan-Asian cuisine—and vegan options are plentiful!
They have some of the tastiest sweet potato rolls, age tofu appetizer with chili sauce, curry dishes with vegetables and tofu, and so much more always in a great atmosphere.
